Haha such a sad life the 289 lives. Yes I do have a 351 I am building on the side into a 427 stroker. Fuel injection and turbos are going on. My other toy is a 750hp Supra I crossed to the dark side because I was tired of dealing with cops, DMV and smog. I can't enjoy driving my car without being paranoid. So I purchased a '66 Mustang doing restore from the ground up on it. It came with a new Jasper rebuild engine and had the parts including with the car. It was a deal of the century...the guy had about $8000+ in new parts still in boxes

im suprised being an old supra guy that you didnt opt for the 200ci inline 6 and slap a big turbo on it haha just kidding man.

nowadays less and less people want to dive into their old 289 block and beef up things fearing a loss in value since they're getting harder and harder to come by. I know there's quite a few cats around here who've pulled out the stock 289 and literally just keep it in their garage and swap in built up junkyard 302/351 roller blocks built up and stroked out. dont know what your goals are for the car, but you might consider doing that instead if you want serious power...

Hahah I love the good old 2JZGTE...but I wanted to get away from inline power and go for some big cubic inches! It'll give me that other end of the spectrum experience. Yea me personally I don't care about the value this Mustang is built for fun and to enjoy. I'm chucking out that 289 and purchasing a 351w roller block..plans are to stroke it and either twin turbos or a Procharger F series. My goal is a street car that is fast, weekend warrior and something that will hook on the street. I know live axles have the best potential for hooking vs the IRS. I should post up some pics of my build.
