Default clear coat question

I had to repair some an area on my trunk. The repair came out great and I re-shot the trunk with clear. its still really fresh (about 2 hours) and small specks in the clear started to show. It looks like hell, almost like dust is under the clear in some areas. Will a really good wet sand fix the problem or is it time to back track after it cures?

Any ideas on what happend? Before I shot the clear I sanded the entire trunk with 1000 then 1200. The lid was shot in a booth to cut down on dust etc.

Thanks

You made sure to clean the trunk before painting?

I thought I did. I must not have done a great job. I spent about 30min cleaning it up making sure it was ready for the clear.

Lokks like im going to have to take it down and shoot it again. should I start with 1000 or 1200.

Are you using water base, if so you really have to make sure the moisture content has significantly evaporated before you clear it. If not using water base, it sounds like solvent poping from not waiting long enough also.

From what I read on another forum, it sounds like maybe the isocyanates all ran together....

Was it really humid in the booth? did you wet the floor?

When this happens, a "clean" paint job will LOOK dirty.

If that is what happened a wet sand ain't going to make it...
