It sounds like we're not the only ones that have had a big mess. To read these, we don't feel so bad about our car. The first thing is that it has an electric fuel pump that was mounted up under the hood. We were told that there might be a heating problem. Our car has been converted to a 429. They put in a 2 core radiator without any antifreeze in it. We found a ton of corrosion when we took the motor apart. It had a broken piston. There was water damage to the head bolts. We also found the transmission linkage hooked together with 2 hose clamps. They ran a household electrical wire to the alternator. The kickdown was tied all the way back. The guy thought that the way the car shifted was cool. He had to have it in high RPM to get it to shift. Which is not fun in 45 MPH traffic when we brought it home. He also thought that when he got on it and the car wanted to take off sideways on him that the car was really powerful. It turned out to be the pitman arm was flopping from side to side and he couldn't control the steering. Our favorite one that we're going to have to figure out how to fix is they put on a shaker off of a 70 Mustang, which is cool, but the template for a Torino shaker to cut the hood. Now we have a point in front of the shaker gasket where you can look into the engine compartment. We're still waiting to see what else we find. Hopefully not much more.

You could just switch to a Torino scoop

Where would you purchase a Torino scoop and gasket?

Default A nissan running 3,000 without oil!

My wife gets her oil changed every 3,000 miles in her Nissan pickup truck. She had aa tune-up a few months back at the local garage who has been doing our cars for the past 10 years. She has had this strange clicking noise after the last tune-up. We took it back and the mechanic could not locate the problem, suggested that the fan clutch may be going and one of the fan blades may be hitting something (only doe this sound the first hour of running till it is really warm for the day, he didn't keep it another day to hear for himself.)
Since I am teaching my son to work on cars, she thought he should handle the oil change this time. He drained the oil and changed the filter, no problem. I gave him a 1 gallon water bottle to pour the oil int so we can have it recycled, he came back with less than a quart. I told him I knew he would spill some, but this was just crazy to spill that much. He told me he didn't spill a drop. I had to check it out myself.... he was right, nothing left!
He had to really work at getting the plug out and there are no leak spots where she parks, so there was no oil leak. All I can think of is the mechanic had started an oil change... drained the oil, quit before changing the filter and returned the car to us with only the oil that was in the filter and engine! just barely a quart!
The sound is completely gone now that she has a full crankcase! And she is changing her own oil from now on! (or the kid is getting extra allowance!)
Even Mechanics do this crap...

I've never bought anything from him, but fordramair makes 69-73 ram air stuff, including the Torino scoop and the big rubber Torino seal.

WTF?? The tech never shut it off nor anyone else at the dealer? This one blows my mind and the reason is due to the car leaving the dealer without anyone discovering IT WOULDN'T SHUT OFF...

Yeah, I work on cars for a living... Things like above tick me off a bit.

Yeah, he got really angry about it when I pointed out the solenoid was upside down. Imagine the cross-connections of wiring it that way. The coil was fried, for another thing.

He probably did shut it off. By pulling the battery cable off. Then figured they wouldn't know until they got home and he could claim it as fine when he test drove it. I just canned a guy for doing this sort of thing.
