Default Keys

What are my options if I misplaced/potential lost my keys?? New ignition and locks(hood + doors)? Or is it possible to somehow get the exact same key without the original??

stupid question but I am not sure what exactly my options are.

I know that a locksmith can make a key from the code if it's available. Dealers have the code for the vin involved, but this only applies to newer cars. You best bet would be to call a GOOD locksmith and see what he can do.

If it's the original lockset, typically has the key code number stamped on the door lock cylinders. Read these numbers to a locksmith, and by the time you get there he'll already have the key made. If not, you'll have to take the cylinder to him.

Go through the back seat and use a socket wrench and many extensions to unscrew the latch. Then you'll be able to re-key or replace the lock.

Make sure you get two sets of keys.

Hm I see. Thank you. I know I should have made 2 sets of keys. I always keep my keys in the garage so I know where to find them but this week has been hectic with the car so I misplaced them.

Just quick question. 2+2 do you own a mustang shop or something? Just curious.

Many locksmiths will be able to make you new keys on the spot WITOUT CODES.... (with one of those handheld key cutting tools)

Also, with old worn locks, a key that fits the hole will often work well enough to "jimmy" the locks.... (for the trunk)

Pull out a lock set and take it to a lock smith. A key can be made from that set. An easy one to get out. Like a door.
