Default Disc Brake Conversion

Hi guys, I'm new to this site, I'm learning how to build cars and I'm a girl So pretty sure I need a lot of help, and it's a great thing I love advice! I'm building my dream car... an Eleanor. She's a 68 Fastback in need of some TLC, but I will say that one day, she will be beautiful.

I want to drive this car, not let it sit and collect dust so I want some reliable disc brakes. I am willing to put some bucks into this baby, but am looking for some advice for efficiency of the funds... I know the Wilwoods are great but pricey, so I am up for some discussion.

Thanks guys!

Welcome to the forum!

Depends on what your goals are for the car. There are stock kits, Granada kits, Baer, Wilwood, etc. There is also conversions for using the modern Cobra brakes from a newer 'Stang. For an Eleanor, I'd probably go with the modern Cobra brakes. Check out www.mustangsteve.com for kits.

I suggest getting very familiar with the search function and perusing the FAQ, there is a wealth of information.

You can get the completely stock 68 disc brakes, these are actually pretty good, and you'll be able to maintain them in future without having to break out a file to tell you what non-stock source you need for parts, just buy them anywhere.

I'm already impressed that you know it is disc brakes and not disk breaks.

Thanks for the advice everyone. Here are a few pictures of my girl. The first is from the day she came home and the 2nd is from last night. Blasting will begin this weekend if all goes well!

Welcome to the forum! Hope you stay and keep us up on your project. This question gets asked very regularly and everyone has... as you can see different opinions.

If you are going with 17" wheels, then I too vote for the MustangSteve kit
