I was browsing through a magazine the other day and noticed the MSD E-curve and the Mallory E-fire distributors. It seems like either one would really simplize adjusting your timing curve. Has anyone had any experience with these and if so how did you like it or dislike it?

Well, first you'd have to establish a baseline on the dyno using your stock distributor. Then you'd have to have the stock distributor professionally curved. I do these, and I have yet to see one come off a car and actually be in accordance with Ford specs. Never. Usually, adjusting these improves all aspects of performance, and often the improvement is spectacular. This costs far less than either of them, typically $70-$80. Once you've done that, then get the expensive alternative, and spend some time on a dyno establishing improvement. The principal advantage is the stock distributor is best done off the car, which adds a bit to the work involved. Either way, getting your ignition timing that perfect requires a lotta time on a chassis dyno, or you're just kidding yourself.
