show me your steering wheel
im looking to put a new steering wheel in, ive heard grant wheels are horrible. however there is nothing wrong with my original one so im not looking to spend alot. grant wheels seems pretty reasonable for the price.
any comments, ideas etc

i like these, especially the bolt area around the horn is larger than the column. then a reg horn in the center. it looks like it bolts in. not just a press fit horn button. the one to the left resembles the original wheel a little.
I'm gonna make trouble for Grant owners:
Pothole, pothole, POTHOLE! (At least a dozen horn buttons just fell off because I typed the word.)
Even when the button stays on, the contacts do a little flashing light show at night.
Don't get me started on the lousy fit between the wood and the rim, it'd get you a D+ in wood shop.
This wheel costs more, but it's WAY better, better even than factory wheels:

Who makes this wheel?
I have a Grant wheel in my car. Funny thing is my inspector said the horn worked when I bought it but my mechanic and I can't find the horn under the hood and it hasn't worked since...hmmm...I wonder.
Needless to say I have a grant wheel but it's one of the old ones that I plan to change out to something else.
Flaming River has some nice wheels but they are really pricey. Not sure about the fit and finish on them as well.

I fixed this by cutting a few pieces of firm, clear plastic tubing and inserted them under the horn ring (inside so they do not make contact with the edges of the horn button.) I used them to create more pressure between the wheel and the horn ring allowing me a little more room to press down harder and even twist the horn ring into a "locking position (although I don't see any reason for twisting since there is nothing under the horn ring that would cause it to tighten it's "grip". Just make equal pressure all around the horn ring. I think the equal pressure on all sides is important so the horn ring is not tilted at all, causing less contact surfaces. Then just use a small piece of coat hanger wire to fish all the tubing out and grab then with needle-nose pliers (I used thin, locking hose clamps that fit under the horn cap grab them).
So far, no problem with the horn button at all.
If it ever starts to fail, just a couple drops of 2-part epoxy glue around the edges of the fiber/horn ring before sliding it in will lock it in place semi-permanently. Just a few drops so I could break the seal if it was ever needed. If you use too much, it'll never come out!
I really did expect a better setup with the grant, like the lock-on horn button we originally had! Not held on by "friction". It would work better if the inside of the horn button were rough instead of the smooth metal, especially for a friction fit! But I am happy with it while it is working correctly.
I installed a new turn signal wiring harness when I did the wheel and had no problem getting the horn to work with it. It's easy to diagnose the horn with a light bulb type tester and is pretty straight-forward, not much that can go wrong. (especially if it worked with the old wheel and you have the correct Grant wheel installation kit.) Post some info in a new thread and I am sure we could all help get it working.
The pic is the Moto-Lita wheel, which is nearly identical to the LeCarra wheel. The image is linked from Glazier Nolan, who stocks them.
I wanted to go with a wooden wheel and really liked this one:

I purchased it off summit for somewhere between $200-$300 I don't remember. I personally think the quality of this wheel is amazing. It is not the eleanor wheel, it is the wheel made by lecarra.
This is Venomus68 (Mike Reid), I didn't realize my father's acount was still on opps!
