A simple aftermarket tach is not that difficult to install. One wire goes to ground, one goes to the coil, one goes to the ignition switch, and one goes to illumination.
That in-dash job is even simpler- One fuse accessory 12V to the tach, one wire from the tach to the (-) side of the coil. That's all.
