Default windshield replacement

So, the cracks get bigger every time I drive it, so it's time to get the new windshield. Can I do this? It looks pretty do-able, but as always advice is the most valuable gift. If I do it myself I could save a hundred bucks or so, (and maybe get the dash pad moulding in). I've heard about the rope trick, but Mustang Monthly has an article that suggests using a tool to pop the gasket around on the outside. That seems like it could work. Has anyone done one?

I did...It was easy...

Just pop the trim off using the trim removal tool...Cut the rubber so you can see the edge of the glass then kick out the window.

Clean the channel really well and repair any rust holes.

You'll need to apply 3m bedding compound

I ran a bead of the 3m then used the rope to set the glass which worked really well

Then filled the remaining space between the rubber and the frame with the 3m

refitted window trim

totally give it a shot...you can do it!

I agree, it is very doable. You will probably want an extra pair of hands though.

My confidence is growing.
Is there anything tricky or different because mine's a convertible?
Where can I get a trim removal tool?
Thanks!

I don't know if there is anything that will make it more difficult on a vert or not. Maybe someone with will chime in.

I just realized the article I looked at online was actually a 67 vert, and made it look pretty simple. I am a bit worried about damaging the stainless trim, but a trim tool and some new clips should prevent too much damage.
Any ideas on where to get the clips?

Glazier Nolan sells the trim tool I prefer. They have the clips, seals, and bedding compound, too. You'll need two tubes.
