Electrical problems please help
I've been moping around trying to figure this out forever and I'm so sick of it, so I figured I'd surrender and ask for help... I bought my stang back in May and have bought several things for the ignition since then including the switch, coil, and distributor. I never received the keys, probably because the guy I bought it from messed up the electrical system so badly. So anyway, after ripping the old ignition switch and lock out and putting the new one in, nothing happened. I ripped the dash up and patched all the wires which had melted together from the previous owner and got the starter to crank. I later realized that I had no spark from the ignition coil, which I replaced and got the same result. I found a wiring diagram which I have followed for hours and confirmed that its similar on my car. I'd like to confirm this with people that have an untouched electrical system (I apologize in advance if anyone breaks their back trying to look under the dash). So, what I've seen in my car is the red-green wire goes into a pink wire which comes out as brown and red-green. The brown attaches to the starter relay and the red-green attaches to the positive pole of the coil. The red-green wire does have power. I have this Mallory unilite distributor that has three wires coming out of it so the diagram doesn't really help me on that part, but how I got it, the red was on the positive pole of the coil, the green on the negative pole of the coil, and the brown is grounded. I have never had this thing started in front of me so I'm open to any suggestion just hear this thing roar. Please help!
What year is your car? If it's a '66 I may be able to help you out. So far the colors are the same as mine.
*****Edit
Just looked at a couple of your other posts and see it is a '65. Should be pretty much the same as a '66.
Here is a link to test your module for the Unilite distributor. There is also a hypertext link to the installation instructions that came with it.

Try this first and see where you get.
My next suggestion would be to replace the underdash harness, so you are starting off with a good circuit. and trace out the engine harness to make sure nothing is hacked up in there.

As for wiring your distributor... You will need to wire it properly to make the system run properly. Go to this website and follow the diagram that matches your setup.
