Default 65 front seat back installation

I've got the seats re-upholstered but cant seem to get the seat back onto the seat bottom. Just cant make the ears fit over the posts.

is there a trick?

Yes, there is. You have a small ear and a big one. Install the small one, with the fiber washer and retaining pin. Use brute strength, or a small lever, to spread the ears apart, and hook the ear on the other pivot. Hopefully you put the fiber washer on first, (I forgot this once, very annoying).

When he says brute strength, he is right. It took my sons help and a crow bar to get it done. I was thinking it can't be this hard! It was though.
