Default Monte carlo bar won't clear comprssor.

I just bought a monte carlo bar today and I already know it won't actually go into place until the front of the car is on jacks and the shock towers settle back in. But while just doing a little mock up it looks as if its not going to sit right because it will hit the compressor. I'm wondering how to fix this problem I have seen the 67 mustangs with the compressor and monte carlo bar before. Also do the side bolts fit directly onto the ones that I boxed in the third picture? Thanks

Are these the bolts the side will fit onto?

You'll probably have to get the straight MC bar, you got the one for the oval air cleaners.

Well I noticed on a google picture that tx65coupe on this forum has it done to his 65 and still has the compressor. I will probably have to ask him because I don't really like the look of the straight bar as much.

The solution is clear, ditch the AC. LOL

I'm kidding. But really, ditch the AC.

Get the straight bar. And Glazier Nolan has a pre-formed factory-style steel fuel line for your Edelbrock to replace all that rubber hose.

Well, the MC bar wasn't invented for looks, it braces the towers. The straight bar is far stronger than the curved one, which was a compromise to clear later oval air cleaners.

You really should get an export brace, the thin stock tin bars you have are useless.

the straight bar is sturdier than the curved one (obviously), so it is the better option. the curved one is for those with the oval cobra air cleaner. so if I were you I'd just bring it back and swap to straight. and yes, the bolt holes are the correct ones

Here is mine with a curved monte carlo bar. It clears the AC just fine.

I'm not sure why yours is so close. I think you might find that once it is back all the way it will clear the AC. Try positioning the bar directly above the mounting points and look down and see what it looks like.

I had to go with a curved one, because a straight one would not clear my Pertronix distributor.

I agree, the one peice export brace is a must.
