getting hot at idle ..
ya ... me again ... :-)
first of all. all clear, i don't boil or loose any water. i checked for a period of several months and no problem whatsoever. when i fill the water up to cover the cores in radiator and an inch more, then whenever i drive i'm missing about a litre. but it doesn't matter if I drive it for 10 miles or 1000. i think it's the fact i have no overflow container.
The next good news is that my fuel vaporising is cured with a proper pump and 1" phenolic under carb and 7blade fan and good pulley system (no performance underdrive)
So back to the problem, if it is one.
The temperature stays at the first quarter of temperature gauge while driving. at all times, under all conditions. as soon as i stop and idle it takes about 10 mins and the temperature gauge starts rising, the car (idle) starts to sound different and when the gauge is at half I get scared. so i rev it (standing) at 2000-2500 rpm for about 30 secs and the gauge is back to where it while driving....
is that normal? i can verify with thermo gauge (infrared) at weekend if numbers help

how quickly does it start to jump up. im figuring that you dont have an electric fan which is a problem most the stangs. had. i notice when its warm out that this happens to me but im never idling at a stop light long enough for it to matter. the idle changing tones is somewhat weird to me but i have no idea.
basically when u start reving it the fan is gonna start moving at the speed that it would while driving and getting more air circulation. i wouldnt be worried about that too much but how does the idle change when this happens?

What kind of fan blade are you running and what pressure radiator cap do you have?
I had the same problem with our car, and ended up solving it by going to a Be Kool 5 row aluminum radiator, a 5 bladed fan and a 16psi radiator cap.

ya. got a shroud, 7-bloade fan (half in half out), i changed the carb now so I'll have to see if the behaviour changed with it as well, if noit i'll just avoid traffic jams or rev it a bit occasionally
