Dynomax Mufflers
My muffler saga has been expensive and annoying but is finally solved, with Dynomax SuperTurbos. I have 4.6L DOHC, no cats, 2 1/2" X-pipe, and full tail pipes on my 65. First I had a set of 06 GT takeoffs, because I like the sound of my wife's car. They were way too loud and had that 'blat-blat' sound. I guess the cats are what quiets the new GTs. Then I bought some MagnoFlow's. They sounded better but were too loud, especially inside the car at highway speed. So I went to the local muffler shop and they installed some MagnaFlow XL Turbo mufflers. The guy assured me they would be much quieter than the regular MagnaFlows. They were louder - painfully loud, especially at highway speeds (and of course he said 'Sorry, no refunds'). Then I found this website:
http://www.pontiacstreetperformance....p/exhaust.html
The article is about using Dynomax Super Turbo mufflers. They performed better overall than any of the others, sounded quiet (I'm an old guy who likes to hear the radio). So I ordered a set and am very happy with them. They have a good, mellow sound, not raspy, are quiet at crusing, not too loud when you get on it (they don't draw every cop from miles around) but sound pretty mean.
So after spending over $400 on mufflers (net, since I sold the other mufflers at a loss) and way too much time and work, I highly recommend the Dynomax Super Turbo. They aren't a welded muffler so they won't last as long as the MagnaFlow, but no more than I drive my car (about 5K per year) they will last long enough.

man that was quick. when I think new mufflers I have to check websites, ship them over the pond and then i probvably look at them for two weeks before I get to install them *g*
any chance you can make a video of them. I'm well interested to hear. especially outside idling/reving/taking off (without wheel spin if possible) ...

I'll try to get a sound clip this weekend.

I liked my dynomax super turbo's. Good music tx65coupe !!!!!!!!!!!!!
185's on a 306, with an x pipe, dumps, could barely tell it was running. Loud pedal still draws attention though.

never made it over 2500, but sounds great alright. thanks for that. that gives me an idea on what they sound like. what size exhaust are you running?
2.25", 2.5" or 3" from what it looks i'd nearly say 3 ???

Whats everyone got against flowmasters? they sound great with an x-pipe

The revs were about 3k. The exhaust is 2.5 inch but has 3 inch stainless tips. I plan on getting a better video later.

I recommend straight through mufflers or the super turbo style. Chambered mufflers suck.
Everyone likes mine better since I changed to Dynomax.
