Corvettes are or were made of fiberglass over a steel frame. The 70-75 Formula birds came with a fiberglass hood from the factory. Pin on stuff needs top be handled with care, bolt on stuff takes a little more abuse but you still have to avoid chipping it or bashing it into something. I am pretty sure there are some Vettes and I know of a few early Formies in your area. With proper care fiberglass parts can outlast the rest of the car.

Up to c5 a corvette is fiberglass the c6 is carbon fiber now.But fiberglass has its down sides like a hood can sag in the middle with age over 20 years it starts to spider crack easy.A rock hits it and you got a nasty indent in it.But they make filler for fiberglass and its easy to repair. And remember its a aftermarket part so its not going to fit prefect out of the box you have to make it fit the car.
