Default Motor Mounts

I'm planning on buying a 302 this week(unless it is sold before I get to it) since paint keeps getting delayed. I need to buy a pair of motor mounts and was looking online at autozone and places like that. They have 1 that they say will work, but I want to make sure before I buy them.

Here is a picture of the motor mount they say will work for my 67. To me it seems like it is missing something, or will it work?

Yep, those are the ones ya need. If you are converting to a V8 though, you do ned the metal pieces that tie those to the frame rails.

that's the engine mount. you still need the frame mounts.

as for whether or not it will work, it depends on what frame mounts you have. the 289/302 actually uses smaller mounts than the I6 and 1 fewer bolt per side. go figure.

and here's the fun part - '67 v8 mounts are a one-year only thing and it's apparently impossible to find the correct engine mount. i bought a set on ebay that were advertised as '65-'68 mounts but turned out to be '67 mounts (i think). so do your best to get non-'67 mounts. the '67s can be modified if you don't mind drilling another hole in them.

Hopefully I can find the frame mounts locally for a decent price.

No. The height and angle is wrong. The 67 requires the C7ZA (2286), while the 68 uses the C6OA (2257). Many sellers on the internet and elsewhere, especially eBay, claim to have the 2286. They don't. Sometimes the box even says 2286 on it, but the part inside is a 2257. The 68-70 convertible uses the 2286, as does the 70 BOSS 302.

You can get the 2286 from Glazier Nolan, or you can modify your brackets to accept the 2257.

See if lakewood makes motor mounts for a 67 there's look stock but are stiffer.

Sure- the V8 is a couple inches from the frame, but the six is maybe 8" away, which is why it gets forged steel. It's not just engine torque either, imagine slamming over a railroad crossing with weak mounts, and leaving the engine on the ground, or worse, an accident.

Glazier Nolan has 67 mounts. Really.

The steel brackets come two ways, you have to be careful which you get:

Autozone carries them, but they only make the motor mount and not the frame mount.
