Default 67 Project Thread

Just moved this from general tech.

Thought I would share my project thread. Its a 67 Coupe I bought this past June. Great running/driver for $5,000 and most importantly a solid canidate for a restomod. Very minimal metalwork needed, no real rot at all. I'm starting with the engine and engine compartment.

Got the inner fenders/rad support striped and coated.

Engine: 68' 302 with 351W heads, high duration cam and a bunch of shiny goodies. Mated to a T5 and a 9" rear.

Headman long tube headers:

st about wrapped up with a high rise manifold.

Still need a chrome alt, aluminum rad/hoses and pulley kit...ut you get the idea.

curious, what paint/finish did you use for the engine bay? It looks like it has some texture?

Its a trick I learned from my last resto. I use a sealer, on this one I used high build primer and removed some factory indents. Then top coat with a bedliner spray through a fine spray tip. It takes a gentle trigger finger to get the fine texture (rather then big blotches) but it gives it a factory type look that resists scratches.

Thanks for the compliments...not sure how you guys would take such a departure from the classic look of what you find undermost of these years hoods.

Now if I canjust get that friggin intake manifold to seat right. With the gaskets in place its getting bound up on the heads about 1/4" from dropping down. PITA

What do you mean by any numbers on the engine?? Power or actual block castings?

I found it easy enough to paint once stripped to the bare block and didnt bother pulling it.

Here's a closeup of the headers:

And a shot of the stripped interior, replaced floorboards, refinished and sealed:
