The dashpot gives it an extra shot of gas like an acel. pump does when the auto kicks down IRC.

No, the dashpot sits behind the throttle lever and keeps the throttle from snapping shut when you get off the gas pedal. It has a spring and a diaphragm in it and it slowly brings the lever back to the idle position.

no, don't buiy a new carb unless you were planning for that anyway. ( i wouldn't for the moment)
the dashpot only slows down the throttle on the way to close position. that's all it does.

I believe the problem to be the combination of closed throttle and corner (bend), so the very first thing that needs looking at is the float level and the filters

If you don't do it now, just remember this option for the future in case you're faced with rebuilding the 2100 again. It's an EZ switch for a couple hundred bucks.

i guess i dont get why a person would replace 1 carb with a new carb when the 1 they have can just be tuned and would work just fine.

ive got the original 2100 on my '65. only time ive EVER had an issue was when i parked in a friends driveway at a steep incline. i had to put it in neutral and coast down it to more level area becuase the fuel pump couldnt pump enough gas in haha
