i live just outside of cork on a hill. so hoem and car is good. I just couldn't get anywhere since all the access roads were closed. But I was able to go to the pub next door without getting wet.
there was a lot of damage throughout cork, businesses drowned, a lot of cars written off, the firebrigade was constantly fishing people out of the river and hotels were evacuated.
I just flew to germany yesterday morning (3 days after the flood peaked) and all of the workmates who are without water can shower at work. we have 2 friends living with us this week who have no water.
I hope that we don't have any more floods in Cork and although this was the biggest flood (probably ever) that Cork saw I'm delighted there were no fatalities (at least I haven't heard anything similar), which is great news.
next week I'm flying out to florida and Jamaica for my holidays ... can't wait. So was extremely lucky this time around
[note: thanks for thinking of me !! ;-) ]
