Trunk/frame rust holes issues
Here are a couple rust hole issues I uncovered more of today cleaning off the frame rails.
There was a ton of dirt and mud and grass packed up in this area, the past owner must have spun a bunch mud up into this area causing to rust out.
The trunk brace aside from surface rust on the back side is very solid, it is only bad on both sides where the mud and grass got packed up in the brace and frame rail tips.
Instead of replacing the whole trunk brace I'm guessing it would be OK just to get a new one and cut off the ends that cover the frame rails and replace those since the rest isn't compromised.

Here is a hole caused by the mud and mess stuck up in the area. The damage appears only to back about 1" on the side shown it is very solid from there on to the spring shackle hole. I'm guessing I should cut off the frame rail tips before the shackles and replace those when I got the trunk brace area off?

This one the sealant failed and let water up in causing this rust hole. I poked all over the area and this is far as it went that appeared weakened. Should I just cut this out a little more and patch over the top? It by no means warrants a full floor replacement.

Any other incite or knowledge on fixing these?
Thanks for any tips,
Lynn

Yeah, It would probably be wiser to replace the whole thing instead of patching it on either side of the rails, it is solid other wise, but....
I will also get a tail light panel that I will replace as well because of a lot of Bondo in a lot of areas due too young kids backing the car into things at the airport that it was at most of it's life. I may as well do both while I'm at it.
As far as the frame rails.
Would I take and cut them back a couple inch's and weld in new 14 -16 gauge metal and redo those areas?
Thanks,
Lynn
