Spark Plug Boot and Light Bulb Grease
I bought a set of spark plug wires the other day and the guy gave me a small packet of grease and told me to spread it around on the inside of the spark plug wire boot, on the tip of the spark plug, and into all light bulb sockets and on the ends of the bulbs. Said it helps keep moisture out. Anybody ever used this stuff, or heard anything about it?
yeah....
this is a motorcycle web site, but it explains the stuff and how it helps...

Yep, dielectric grease, helps keep electrical connections clean, dry, and not to stick to rubber like the spark plug boots. I also used it to lube my polyurethane rear leaf spring bushings, no squeeks in over 9mos., couldn't verify the chemical but looks, feels, smells, sticky just like the stuff that comes with the bushings. They sell a big tube for ~$6 at O'Reilly's, I'm sure other parts stores have it.

It's a good idea on any electrical connection. When you get two dissimilar metals contacting, especially if there's current flowing, you have potential for corrosion. Dielectric grease helps prevent that.
Do not use vaseline. Vaseline is a petroleum-based product that can eat into rubber. Dielectric grease is silicone and won't harm rubber.
