Default DSS 331 short block

I have been looking at a DSS 331 for years for my 66. Seems like a good block to bolt all my 289 parts on. I have heard some negatives tho, does anyone here have any opinions?

Thanks!

I have heard nothing but good things about DSS but I agree give Woody a call at Ford Strokers.

I agree with Fordstrokers. Had them put together a complete 347. Have not fired it up yet but service and advice during the build process was excellent.

I've heard enough bad things about DSS to consider looking elsewhere. Granted, there are always going to be complaints, especially when it comes to performance crate motors, but I have heard quite a few over the years.

Plus, one of their sales guys pissed me off enough to not buy a stroker kit from them. I had almost decided on one from them and gave them a call to talk about details and the rep kept trying to push one of their really nice but really unnecessary main girdles on me. He kept trying to tell me that they wouldn't build a motor with more than 300hp without a girdle (sbf's don't normally have bottom end issues and don't really need them until 400+hp). I finally got ticked at him and ended the call. A local builder got my money instead, and gave me a much better deal.

So yeah, FordStrokers or T&L would be my recommendation. Heard nothing but good about either.

DSS built my NMRA Pure Street engine and I couldnt be happier with it. The detail and the quality of the work was great. Mine was done on the new Boss Block and I did get the girdle.
