Default Replace this tire or not?

Hi all,

This one has been bothering me for a while. I have a small tear in my driver side front tire. Some people have told me it should be fine to drive with this while I read here and there that this kind of damage is dangerous.

I can't really figure it out. Here's some pics:

It seems the damage is only to the rubber and not the belts or any other inside part.

Opinions welcome! I don't really want to buy a new tire but if this is unsafe, I will!

Looks to me as though the cord is exposed, making it junk.

Guess it looks like that on the pic but that's actually not the case. The white is what it looks like inside the cut all the way to the surface.

Even if that were a minor thing (which it's not), the rest of the tire isn't in good shape. You see those cracks running along the outside edge of the tire? I've seen treads come completely off due to stuff like that.

Junk the tire, and inspect the rest for similar damage.

Absolutely replace that tire!! Your life and the chance of wrecking your car are worth more than a new tire.

Ask those same people if they would go with you for a ride at high way speeds with that death trap of tire.
I wouldn't trust my life with it or put others on the high way at risk either.
Replace it today or at the latest tomorrow, if your luck goes that far that is.
