Default Which solenoid? + Starter removal?

Hello I currently have this solenoid and I need a new one

Do I have to get the same one or will a black stock looking 65 one work?

Also how do I remove my starter on my car. I have hedman longtube headers and a stock big starter and it looks like I only have access to the bottom bolt when looking under the car. Do I have to get some kind of extension bit. Will it be possible to remove with longtube headers?

Yes you can use the standard ford statter relay. You will probably need some kind of extension to get the starter bolts out. I live in N. Fontana if you want a second look at it. jlg

You can use the later style solenoid also, same studs just arranged differently, mark your wires w/tape and hook them up the same.
BWD S63P is the BorgWarner #, look for quality solenoids like BWD, Standard ignition, Motorcraft, etc. any parts store will carry them.
The post closest to the batt. will take the + cable from the batt. and the post closest to the starter goes to the starter.

Can't say what it'll take with headers to get the starter off, even with stock manifolds I had to use a 12" or longer extension on my ratchet to reach the top bolt, take it out first as the starter is fairly heavy when you're on your back.

Thanks I think I can get there with an extension just going to have to drive the car up some ramps so its sturdy.

not sure if its safe to be loosening a bolt while on jack stands

Jack stands in the right place are safer than anything else. Loosening a bolt should not pull it off the jack stands. I was never a big fan of ramps. Had one set many years ago and then gave them away.
