Tranny Flush
I'm having my engine rebuilt and the shop told me it would be a good time for them to remove the transmission pan and check for metal shavings, etc., and possibly flush the tranny (it's a C4 3 speed auto). The tranny works fine and I've always believed in "If it ain't broke don't fix it." Is flushing really necessary? Don't know if it's ever been flushed.
Flushing is not necessary, but changing the fluid and filter IS. Most of the flushing that the shops do involves a machine and an expen$ive price tag. It serves to make them extra money.
Simply have them change the fluid INCLUDING drainiing of the torque converter and replace the filter.

the thing with flushing a trans (or what ive always heard) is that it can break loose sediment etc that is somewhere in the trans which can then cause issues down the road by blocking the fluid from getting to a certain part of the trans.
only thing id ever have flushed is the radiator & coolant system haha
