Default POPPY RED?

I have a 6 cylinder Poppy red Coupe. It the color I have always wanted however after disassembling the car it has more work then I'm skilled to perform. My question is was Poppy red a rare color or is it a dime a dozen. I know it was only produced on the 64.5-65 but can i find out how many were produced in this color? Does anybody know

Rare. I've seen fewer than ten, and I've worked in the restoration trade off and on for over 20 years.

What's wrong with it?

EVERYTHING!. it looks to have been damaged at one point in the front and it was a poor repair job by cutting into the frame rails to bolt on the bumper brackets. THis is now rotting away. The body pannels are all in good shape but need lower qtrs. Rust in the trunk (small amount) but I'm starting to see the leaf springs. The motor was rebuilt a few years ago and it ran when I started this about a year ago. I really dont want to get rid of it but it looks like it will cost too much to get on the road looking good.

If you can weld, you can fix it. Even if you have to replace the rail assemblies, the cost is not that bad. It's the labor for this stuff that runs up the cost. If you can't weld, and don't want to learn, put the car back together and sell it. Disassembled cars are worth a lot less than complete cars, whatever the condition.

Here's a car I guarantee is WAY worse than yours. The first shop that tried to fix it got scared and quit after taking it apart.

Yeah its not that bad. The front frames can most likly be patched from the tower forward. I want to learn how to weld to save on cost. I have been going to cruise ins to find resourses to help.
As far as the color it is something I dont see that often.

You won't see that color much, that's for sure. It came back in 69 as Calypso Coral, and was still rare.

Check with a Mustang club in your area, and find out where you can learn to MIG weld.

I have a Poppy Red 65 convertible. I never see myself coming down the road. It is a rare color and I hope you keep it.

I have had a couple people ask me why I painted it Chevy Orange!! I could smell the beer on their breath when they asked that. I just told them it was a Camaro.
