Default head gasket blown

I've got a blown head gasket on the 70 mach 1. I found place called A & A Machine shop just north of me in Davison Mi. that doing the head work. They are installing harden steel valve seats, triple cutting them, replacing one valve guide and reworking the rest of the valve guides. They cc'd the cambers and found that I had 11 to 1 compression, which means I should have been burning a full tank of high octane fuel all the time. I had always put a 1/4 tank of high octane in it, thinking I had 10.5 to 1 compression. The low octane caused the head gasket to burn through between two of the cylinders. They are going to enlarge the combustion camber to get more cc per camber so that I can burn pump gas, which in turn saves a lot of money in racing fuel. They adding a 750 dual feed carb and recurving the distubutor. When this work is completed they will dyno tune all for $1800.00. This shop builds alot of engines that are 6 second 1/4 mile cars ,they also build all other types of engines and any type of machine work. They have two dyno's one is good for up to 500 HP and the other is good for 1700 HP. They will have the work completed in three days. I find these guys are the guru's of engine building in the Detroit area. They are a Father & Son team who do awesome work at a very reasonable rate and get you in & outv very quickly.

That sucks Bob! Glad you found a good shop to deal with, but $1,800.00 to dyno tune! A little steep if you ask me [&:]

That's ok Mark, Ed likes to jerk my chain every now and then, and knowing I have my chock collar on; I don't know why though I never ever mess with him. LOL

LOL... Yeah, I was trying to mess with you a bit... I read it as: Dyno tune all for $1800.00. I thought you messed up a decimal point and meant: Dyno tune all for $180.00. Sounds like a great deal... You'll have to let me know how it works out... I still need to have my Mallory curved + carb adjusted on the dyno. -They do have a distributor curve machine right?
