Default 67 suspension

I am stuck on my suspension right now, the spring wont pop out. I've got it compressed and the A arm is as far down as it'll go. The spring appears to be snagged on the bottom near the spring seat, and wont budge.

any suggestions?

Get a spring compressor, and remove the spring perch. That spring can take you out if it comes out.

I don't know which one your using, but you need the spring compressor that goes inside of the spring, not the one that is two parts that go on the outside. Those won't compress it enough.

I have the internal one with 4 hooks, and had it compressed. it even popped out of the compressor yesterday as I was releasing the jack from under the lower arm. I got one side out, but the opposite side wants to be a pain in the ***.

If it popped out of the spring compressor, you're doing something wrong. Make sure you have the spring compressed and that the compressor won't slip, then take a prybar and wedge it out of there. BUT BE CAREFUL, a spring can cause all kind of damage to you and/or your ride.

I placed the compressor in exactly how I did on the first one, and jacked the lower arm up then tightened the compressor as much as I could. I released the jack and BANG! it had popped out.

I have the spring tethered with wire, so it wont jump around but the risk is still there. Ill try it again tomorrow when I have time, hopefully it works because the spring is the hardest part of the suspension to remove (in my opinion)

This is the only type coil spring compressor I will use. Unlike the hook type, the spring cannot pop out. Springs can kill or maim you.

why are you using the jack to compress the spring? I used the 2 piece hook type on the outside and just compressed each side bit by bit until it came out. it shouldnt catch on the perch as it just sits on it.

when i was putting my suspension back together i put the coil in before the strut rods, sway bar and outer tierods so the uca was dropped way far down and i didnt need the compressor
