Default 289 Oil/Coolant pools.

Hey. I am getting pools of oil and coolant mixture in crevices towards the front of the engine below the distributor and intake manifold. Ive been getting them for a little while now. If I mop them up, they are usually back fairly quickly. Im putting a picture here with arrows to where the buildups of oil/coolant are. The pic isnt my engine, its just for reference. (Dont have a camera right now to take actual pics.) I was just wondering what could be causing this, and where the leak might be coming from.

Thanks.

Its hard to tell since theres alot of gunk and **** up in there, but Im going to guess its done in cork. I have never replaced that gasket, but I do know there were cork gaskets on my valve covers when I redid those, so chances are the PO used cork everywhere. You can tell that some sort of sealant was used, since some of it is sticking out of the cracks. Willing to bet its cork.

That area is the timing chain cover. It can be coming from 3 possible areas. Intake manifold gasket, head gasket or waterpump. All 3 could be sources for the coolant but only the heads and the intake for the oil.

Take a close look above the pools for any leaks running down. Wipe the pools and above them clean and take it for a quick spin around the block and take another close look to see where it is starting to leak from again.

I would say that what you will most likely find is a very common ford intake manifold leak.

I also had coolant there. It was from a damaged timing cover. The timing cover was badly eroded in the coolant passages.
