Default Clutch help

I am swapping my c4 for a 4 speed. I got a donor car for all of the parts. The car had a 289 with a 164 tooth flywheel. It had an 11" clutch. I can't find an 11" clutch for a 66 289. could the PO have switched to a 302, 28oz to put the 11" on? Is this done? I can find an 11" for the 302/351. Will this work??

The 164T should accept the stock clutch, if the bolt circle is correct. If you have an aftermarket wheel, anything is possible. The 289 never had an 11" clutch from the factory. Heck, the 68-69 390 had a 10.5".

2+2, Here is my flywheel. Pic 1 is where the 11" was attached. Pic 2 is the only other tapped holes on the flywheel. It appears to be only able to take the 3 fingured style. Am I correct?

Make sure you have that flywheel resurfaced before you install it. Wouldn't want you to have any problems after the install.

The stock pressure plate bolt circle should be 11 3/8".

You realize that you should be measuring the diameter of the clutch disc not the pressure plate to figure the size of the clutch right?

It is! Now the big question, will it hurt anything to run the 11"? The car the old one was in was a driver. I guess I if I had a track car with tons of power and stock suspension, it might twist something. Anybody see any issues? Don;t really want to buy a new flywheel.

I really want to go with the diaphram set up as opposed to the 3 finger. From what I understand they are easier on the left leg LOL.
