Default ford 351

I wanted to buy a 351w with an FMX trans bolted to it from a guy near me, and told him I wanted to put it in my 67 mustang. He told me it won't fit, because its for a truck. i don't understand what he told me because I know 351w engines are in mustangs throughout the country with no issues, because as far as I know, theyre a direct bolt in.

He also told me the numbers on the block show its a 69/70 engine/trans so what will I have to do to fit this in my 1967?

thanks for the help. and I would love to upgrade from my 289 sitting in my backyard!!!

The FMX came in 71-73 Mustangs and the 351w came in 69 Mustangs and you can put both in any Mustang. If the trans is from a 4x4 you would need to change the tailshaft and housing to put it in a car.

The hardest part will be the truck FMX has the wrong shift lever, Mustangs require the floor shift style.

The FMX has the neutral safety switch on the shifter, C-4/6 has it on the trasnmission. For the FMX you will have to find a shifter out of 70-73 mustang that has the neautral saftey switch in it.
