Any real gains over a Performer? The short list I have is Performer intake, holly 670 avenger, comp cams XE274, Edelbrock aluminum heads, headers, full msd on a 351C.

thanks

The which is better question depends on your motor. If your cam and heads are designed to run in the Air Gap rpm range then I say yes. For stock applications I say no. I have one because it came with the car. I used it because I am all about keeping the inlet charge cool. I live in AZ. I don't have a choke. It's hot here. I have a stock(I think) 5.0 HO longblock from a 90 mustang. I am sure I give a little down low to gain a little up top. The next motor will be able to make more use of the manifold.

My engine is fairly stock. What problems if any can I expect with an air gap manifold. I bought it for the future motor, but would like to use it now when I convert to 4 barrel.

I would say no problems, other than the hood clearance issue. Engines are funny beasts.

As a child, I had this drawing 'toy' that allowed me to make dinosaur/monsters from templates. There was legs, torso and tops. You could piece together all kinds of funky stuff. Engines are kinda the same. It's just a matter of piecing together components that work well together. An air gap on a stock 289 2 barrel motor will fell kinda weak in the lower rpms. Edelbrock states on their product info that air gaps are designed to run between 1500 and 6500 rpms. Back in the day, I had a 289 2 barrel, weiand intake, four barrel carb and a C4. It never made it over 4700 rpms before the tranny would shift. An air gap in that application would have been a poor decision since I only had idle to 4700 to work with.
