Default c4 transmission leak

Along with my long list of electrical and carb issues, I now have a steady transmission leak.

When the engine is running, there is a steady stream of fluid coming from the passenger side of the transmission towards the back above the pan. I cannot tell if it from the pan or from above it. All the fluid runs off the back passenger bolt of the pan. Does anybody have any idea where it could be leaking from?

Yeah

Its probably a loose cooler line.

These lines run to the radiator follow them back and find where they bolt to the trans.

Tighten the fittings

I have tightened the fittings but I still have a leak. It is definitely coming from the cooler line though. I could not get a flare nut wrench on it so I used a regular one. Is there a better way to do this. Even with a regular wrench its pretty hard to get to and I am worried about stripping the bolt. Is there a sealant or anything I could put on it? Should I have put something on the threads of the fitting before installing the line?

Don't use anything on a flare fitting to seal it. They either seal or don't sel. If they don't seal then you need take it apart and see what is wrong. I believe the line goes into a fitting. That fitting, I'm pretty sure, has an O-ring seal on it. That seal may be fubared.

My real question is does anybody know the best way to get access to this fitting. I can barely get a wrench on it and am worried I am starting to strip it. Are there short flare nut wrenches available?

If the fitting is fubared, I am going to get it towed to the tranny shop that rebuilt it and have them deal with it.

You might have to modify the wrench to get it to fit.

It shouldnt have to be really tight to seal. If its bottomed out and its not finger tight and it leaks a lot maybe they did screw it up.

If you loosen it a bit can you turn it by hand? If not maybe it was installed cross threaded...

its pretty close to bottoming out and I could not turn it by hand before. It is leaking less but it is still a steady stream. I am going to back it out and try again. If it doesn't work, its going back to the shop.

Sounds like something is up with it.

Hopefully the shop can get it right this time and not make it worse

To get to it I beleive I needed a crows foot wrench. Its an open end that you fit a socket extension into it.
