Ditto on the WD-40. It's a gentle way.

You say that, but which brand(s) did you try? I've always had good luck with Stoner Tarminator- spray it on and let it sit a little while it even takes off baked on yellow/brown pine tree sap.

Im not the guy to ask, I tend to bust out the DA and 80 grit before thinking about it... Hot soapy water, WD40 or some alky, and then a clay bar. Polish it up good after. A detail shop should be able to handle it quick and painlessly.

I have always heard that WD works good for that type of stuff. Thats good to know that it worked out for you. Don't forget to wax the car again.

That's good news... I have been worried about my pine trees in my driveway (as well as the cherry trees) "spitting" all over my car (and the new truck) here in the near future. I knew WD40 worked well on chrome and glass but wasn't sure if it was safe on painted surfaces.

Yeah try wd-40. I use it to get the sap off and it works great at getting off road tar too. Has kerosene in it so works good as a solvent. Never had a problem putting it on a painted surface. You will be looking at a new paint job using a wire brush. If still no results contact a detail shop see if they can give you any guidance on a product or see if they can remove.

I'd try a clay bar from Mothers or Meguiars.
