I have been meaning to post back on this thread for the last week. My 65 is running good now.

We opened up the carb and cleaned it out. The floats were stuck and there was alot of crap in the bowls. I ended up replacing the needles and seats and adjusting the floats a little.

I also got the Edelbrock fuel pump that is specified for the carb from a friend. I haven't installed the regulator yet, but I did install a gauge. It is reading just over 6 psi. I don't know if the guage is slightly off or if the pump is putting out a little over 6 psi.

I'm still confused at what all the crap in the bowls was. Everything including tank and lines etc is all new. I also have 2 fuel filters, one before the pump and one before the carb. I don't see how this crap in there. Also the filter before the pump is clear and there is virtually nothing visible in it.

Gas can get crap in it that was in the tank at the station, or the trailer from the truck that delivered it, or the storage tank at the refinery that made it. That's what fuel filters are for. There are a lot of places along the way where fuel can get crap in it.

I think I'll do that in a month or so Kalli.

67mustang302, Your right about that, but woudn't 2 filters be enough to get the crap out of the fuel? The filter before the carb is an Edelbrock filter and the one before the pump is a Mr Gasket one.

Sure would be a good time to replace those filters.
