Default Interior Restoration Kit

I've got the engine and transmission completed, before the car goes off to paint I would like to move forward and order the interior kit. Opinions on who makes the highest quality interior restoration kit?

Thank you

TMI makes the best interior upholstery, but of course they don't make all the other stuff you need. ACC makes the best carpet, then there's kick panels, soundproofing, etc. A good dealer, like Glazier Nolan, will pull together the best of what's available for you.

I got my kit from Laurel Mountain Mustang. I couldn't be happier and I think you'll agree. If I remember correctly it was also decently priced and fairly cheap shipping. I believe their website lists who makes each of the parts in the kit.

NPD is where I bought ours from and free shipping on 300.00 orders which of course you'll be. 2+2 gave great info above as far as brands.

I am also looking at interior kits. Any good pictures of pre/post pony interior upgrade? Any old threads showing pics of the process?

i baught mine from Laurel Mountain as well. it was all great except for the door panels. who ever makes them uses crappy glue and the material came free from the back board.

I honestly don't remember who made the interior parts I have. I'm no dissapionted with it. We bought them back in the 90's. I do hear really good things about TMI. If I'm not mistaken they have a lifetime warranty.

Your focus shouldn't be on one of the "full kits", because they're somewhat of a misnomer... They just scratch the surface, and they force you to swallow whatever grade/manufacturer/quality products the seller chooses to place in it (i.e. some kits are low-priced because there's a bunch of low-rent content in the details.. Interior kits are popular "loss-leaders" in the industry, and those who play the cheap-kit-game attempt to have the best price, usually by compromising quality/costs).

Most interior kits don't include HALF the stuff you actually need to perform a full interior resto. It's best to work up a complete and comprehensive list of all the items you wish to have, sometimes having choices between U.S.-made or imported, sometimes having choices between Concours-correct and lesser-repro, all of which affect total cost according to your needs and standards.

What about hardware, will you go with a generic hardware kit, or do an AMK Master? What about handles, *****, lamps, bumpers, pedals, moldings, and nick-nacks galore...

If you're doing the interior, purchase your parts in ONE BATCH, and you'll paint the clearest picture on the best overall value for the exact specific parts you want.... Not some half-baked "kit" that forces the lowest-common-denominator stuff upon you, almost always includes the cheap imported and short-lasting seat foam, and leaves out 75% of the actual interior of the car.

I got my seat covers, door panels and center console from TMI and couldn't be happier with the quality and fit. They do a lot of custom colors as well which went great with my 65 fastback restomod. I did the orange/black carbon fiber color combo.

The car is really in good shape, what I need to replace are the seatcovers, carpet, carpet on the backside of the fold down seats, light bulb covers in the back quarters, the transition trim on the floors (doors), door inserts, kickpads, dash pad, and the auto tranny shifter housing. everything else is in good shape. I do need to have the seat belts cleaned up, they are dirty so if anyone knows how best to clean them I'd appreciate your help.

Thanks!
