what to do about the window
My '65 vert has the plastic window that needs replacing. I think it is a simple unbolt and install the new window. My real problem is the zipper on the top to which the window attaches is torn about 18". Can an upholstery shop repair this without dismantling the entire top? Does the top zipper attach to the last rib? Hope this makes sense. Thanks.
(PS it has been this way for at least 10 yr since I hardly ever need to put the top up.)

You have to replace the zipper for a new window... They don't match, at least not the ones I have seen (or its been replaced before). Bottom is easy with the tack strip.
Zipper is stapled to top rib, below the top which is also stapled. Shop can easily do it. I started to do mine myself and quickly gave up after removing top staples.

Haha I know what you guys dread about your sons driving. I went with my dad this past saturday to check out a '67 Chevelle SS owned by my dad's friend (as well as learn more about restoring cars). I told him I was going to prom that night and he jokingly offered to let me drive the chevelle to "look good for the ladies". I chuckled and my dad immediately said "NO!" because he had his back turned when his friend said it, and didn't realize it was a joke at first.
He knows I'm a good driver, but this Chevelle is worth $100k+.
Here's a few pics:
