Default Granada disc conversion question

I am looking at doing the disc brake conversion on the front of my 66. I have seen the how tos and they talk about the calipers rubbing on the 14" styled steel wheels. I have the plain old 14" rims with hubcaps and was wondering if anyone knows if it will rub these as well? i am guessing they will but not sure.

No, they do not rub. However, unless you spend some cash to have the hubs of the Granada brakes turned down you'll never know, because you'll never get the wheels on.

You are much better off getting the OE type 65-66 disc brakes, which if purchased from someplace like Glazier Nolan will cost you only $525 complete, and no messing around with used or modified parts.

When I converted my 65 from I6 to V8, we did the Granada brake conversion on it. I had a set of the plain 5 lug 14 inch steel wheels I was going to use temporarily and they would not clear the Granada hubs. They also looked like they would hit the caliper.

I am happy with my Granada brakes. The OE style discs like 2+2 mentioned are a great way to go too.

The other thing I like about the OE 65-67 discs is you don't have to change the spindles, which saves a ton of work, not to mention the $100 you'd pay to have the wheels aligned with the Granada spindles. That Granada swap just got $100 more than you thought, I'll bet. Spend the $525. You'll be able to do the whole conversion in a day, and you can drive it when you are done.

I'm doing a '65 I6 to V8swap myself and it was easier in the long run just to track down the V8 spindles and get the OE style kit from CSRP. It'll save headaches in the future.

He's got a '66 and that's if we are assuming the poster already has a V8, he doesn't say. If he has a I6 then he would need the Granada swap kit or a set of '65-'66 V8 spindles and do the OE style kit as I have done.
