Resto-mod project
We are going with SPI. It's one of the best for the money and the people are very nice. Here is the link:

If you use Aircraft Remover and a wire wheel, that paint will come off very very easily, don't get too upset! There is a lot to learn when taking on a project like this, lots of live and learn experiences, but if you can do it right the first time you'll be glad you did.

Alright, I think I'm gonna make the switch then. Thanks for the advice guys. And thanks for that list NoReins, it's a big help in getting me going in the right direction. It sucks hearing I could've done this in the first place, but like I said before, better late than never!
NoReins what epoxy primer did you go with?
And MrVelocity you go with Dupont Zinc Chromate?
I guess I'll just re-strip the re-primed areas? that kinda sucks....
But like you said NoReins, I guess I'll just use stripper since there's no need to sand it again.

Thanks for the encouragement!
More progress:

The cowl is finally coming loose, I've loosened 3 side of it. I'm gonna try to get it completely off tomorrow, the windshield spot welds are the only ones left, and I believe they will be the easiest.
Just from peeking in after loosening the front and 2 sides of the cowl, I'm glad I made this decision to do it completely; it's nice and rusty in there!

Big news (for me):

It's off! Finally the cowl is off! Better condition than I thought too!
Before and after pics of each end of the cowl. A wire wheel cleaned up a lot of the surface rust.
Here's a few before and after pics of the ends of the cowl. The passenger side will need replacing as the wire wheel revealed a lot of pitting and a few rust pinholes. I'm not taking any chances, a patch panel will be going in!

The driver side seems much better. I won't be patching this.

As you might've noticed, I drilled all the way through. A lot of searching locally didn't help me in finding the right drill bit most people use, so I simply used a regular bit. Obviously this calls for more metalwork but I could definitely use the practice on parts of the car that won't be seen.

I understand you didn't have a spotweld cutter but next time I would really, really urge you to get one. Are you going to replace the entire upper cowl? If you try to reuse the one you removed you are going to have an awful lot of holes to fill.
You are a very hard worker- I just want to share some of my aquired knowledge with you.

Good Job!!!! If you replace the entire upper cowl atleast you will have metal to weld on even though you will have to weld from the bottom. You are going to use a rotisserie, right? Then you should have a better angle at it. Told ya you could do it!
