Default shifter boot

Hi all,

long time no post. Change of job, young kids, house renovations makes it hard to find time to get on the boards.

anyhow, the car has been off the road for a year. rebuilt engine, repainted engine bay, rewired the front half of the car and the dash, customised the rear springs and added adjustable shocks all round, rebuilt the diff and a few other bits and pieces and now into putting it back together.

to the question, my shifter has the spring loaded t-bar reverse lockout. How does this come apart? the boot has a big split in it which i want to replace before putting the console back in.

thanks!

Can't you just walk the boot over it?

i wouldn't worry aboput the top of the shifter, rather unmount the shifter from the gearbox. the lockout mechanism might mount there. not sure as I've never seen one. then shove the shifter booit from below.
but as TX says, you might even be able to remove the **** and walk the boot over the lockout handle. that would be the easiest/.

I have replaced the boot on T shifters many times. It stretches over the T handle, no problem.

What makes you think its a 65 instead of a 66?

I can't tell from the avatar, does it have bars on the grille or a stand alone horse and corral?

Sounds like there is a story behind the model year of your mustang. Did the Aussie car VIN's not start with the model year?
