I am using a 4lb 12" sledge.
Ow.

I got desparate and wedged a pickle fork between the old cylinder and the center link, then beat the F out of it.
Ow ow.

All I succeeded in doing was doing more damage to the cylinder (don't really care about my core at this point) the pin did not move at all.
If it makes you feel any better, you weren't going to get core credit anyway. The bent shaft sealed that. Spin the nut on backwards to prevent mushrooming the threaded portion of the stud. A 5-second bzzzt with a hammmer tip on an air hammer will pop it loose.

I'm tempted to cut it out but I'm afraid I won't be able to get the rest out of the hole and I can't find anybody who sells a p/s 70 center link.
I guess you aren't shopping at Glazier Nolan. They list it. Pricey little bugger, it was only used in 1970, and the 69 BOSS 302.

I have Glazier Nolan's catalog downloaded to my desktop although I have to admit I don't think I looked at it. After your post I did though, they are the same as everyone else. The center link you are talking about is m/s and I need one for p/s (unless they've ypdated their catalog).

The center link is what's hard to get. You can get the cylinder here:

Thanks Bitter, I actually already got the cylinder but I can't find the center link anywhere. Did they really change the design of the center link for one year? I can find 67-69 and 71-73, is the 69 really that much different, it seems like the 69 and 70 are really similar. I'm to the point where I might just have to scrap all the power steering and go to manual if I can't get the center link.

I see you posted in another forum about this problem. It looks like you cut it off but still can't get the remaining stud out of the link.

The '69 link will not fit. http://1970mgr.org/_Draglink.htm

I'd remove the drag link and take it to a machinist and pay them to punch or bore out the remaining stud. The cost would be less than what you'd pay for a new one, if you can even find one.

Yeah, I got a response that the 70 is a one year only piece, of course. I'm obviously stupid because everybody keeps telling me it will pop right out but I can't get it to move. I guess I'll have to take the whole link out like you said. I found one used locally, only $225!
