point set?

Default point set?

i hope this isnt a stupid question but.. ive been looking for a timing pointer and when i searched autozone the had what they called a "point set" is it what im looking for? i need to do the timing on my engine....

nah, what you are looking at there is the contact breaker in the distributor (also called points).
however if you still have 'points' in the distributor then this woul dbe a good time to replace and adjust them. They _have_ to be adjusted before you can time the engine

you can get adjustable ones (http://www.summitracing.com/search/?...0pointer&dds=1) , but you can only use them when you know exactly where TDC is (you have to figure that with piston stop). Otherwise if the engine is stock, you might just find one for your engine. what engine is it exactly?

its a 302, i found one for 10 pucks so it should be good, but thanks for info Kalli...
