Default christmas: Crane distributor 1000-1600

UPS just called they have a packet from Crane for me and are going to deliver today :-)

it's the 1000-1600 distributor

I ran a mallory distributor with module, but there was no adjustment whatsoever apart from initial timing or total timing. no curves possible. Annoyed the crap out of me, so I put the pertronix II distributor back in to run with the HI-6 box. All better and snappier, but before I did that I said, hell why not go all the way and buy one of those. So it's on it's way and I probably have to wait til saturday til I can put it in. very excited. Got an electric choke today as well for my Demon, so that's going back on as well :-)
Anyone running one of those distributors? any suggestions for the settings?

I was reading the instructions online and it seems pretty simple to dial in.
What ignition module and coil are you running with this?

Edit: Now I see the box you are running.

I am looking forward to hearing how it works.

I'm running the one with the small cap, I like it. Pick the curve that suits you best, pick the vacuum advance curve that suits you best, off and running. No moving parts to get stuck or wear out, and changing settings is as simple as turning a ****.

really like the way it works. took the cap off and yes. there's nothing in it. a hole plate and optical sensor. a module screwed from the bottom. very simplistic and i like that. as said the big day is probably saturday. can't wait. car is going ok at the moment, but with that thing sussed out and the demon back in I should be flying

well on the weekend i put the demon back on and my car drives way snappier (i had the holley back in since i was missing a choke, and that annoyed me and my nighbours in the mornigs.. ). i have the ever so slightest hesitation off idle and i'm convinced that this will disappear if i open up the idle mixture just a tad further. i don't know what pinging sounds like, but if that what i hear is it then i have the slightest at low rpm high load. like 40mph slowly accellerating in 5th

anyway. tomorrow night the new distributor is going in and I'll start with max advance. I'll measure g-forces on 3000+ rpm WOT accelleration and compare 28, 30, 32,34 etc
for some weird reason this seems to be repeatable, so it should be ok. then i'll dial in the curve. I'll make sure to post results
