Default wheels ... well aren't we all sick of it :-)

well when i did all the changes to car I was running out of money and got cragar "quick trick I" wheels. 3.75" backspacing. now i'm saving for a new set.
I'm pretty much set on the 15x7 3.75 Vintage V50s, but i'm unsure if they'[ll look good on my car. I have a feeling that they work a lot better with stripes at the bottom (those gt350 stripes). I have them, but I figured, that they don't match the chrome 'C' that I have. at rear panel.

I want something that looks classic and decent and maybe shows off the discs all around. That's why i like the torque thrusters, but everyone around has them.
I believe i'd be the only car with V50s in the country. max three I could think off which would be a great bonus.

I would keep my old tyres. I know whiteletters look good, but girlfriend doesn't like them and I appreciate her opinions. She helped me pick the car and has a good eye when it comes to styling.

I don't think I can afford 16" as I would have to splash out 4 wheels as well.

what do you think? get V50s 15" or wait another half year and try 16"

I have more than half the money together, so I theoretically could order them in UK, leave deposit and pay the rest when they are shipped to me ....

I would go with 16s. Especially if you want to see the disc's. I think those wheels look great.

doesn't adrenolin have 16s? I'm not sure, but if yes that really looks great.
what bums me with current and future backspace of the 15s (they're both 3.75"): I curently have 225/60R15 in the back and would really love something like 245s as I'm member of the no traction club (as Urban calls it). but I think with my currenbt backspace I'm as wide as I could possibly go in the back. With the front I'm limited with manual steering. 205 is max as I want to go (which I currently have)

decisions ... decisions ... can't just walk in a shop and try :-)

Those wheels should look good Kali. I still say get some rocker moldings. I don't think the stripe suits your car.

I would stick with 15x7, but thats just me. I'd also go with 215 60 front and and 225 60 rear or the same 215 all around.

I have 235 60 15 rear currently and it works ok, but I have shackles that barely raise the rear of the car about 1/2 inch, but still stay hidden behind the valance. I took those 80's super shackles off. The car looks, rides, and hanldes much better now.

hiya, i remember you saying that in the past (to leave stripes off and use rocker mouldings). I fully agree there. I could use the stripes, but only if I'd remove the "C" shaped chrome in quarter panel.
The rear is sitting fantastic at the moment. 5leaf mid eye, no shackes, blocks, anything and I couldn't be happier. Front needs to go down, but I can't tackle that before I have the shelby drop done.

I'm quite positive its what I go for, only for the reason that I know the size is good, and I'm quite sure that the rocker moulding at the bottom will make a nice line with the wheels

well not having to change the tyres would save me 400 euro, the ones I have are still good ...

Hey kalli
if you had 4" or 4.125" back spacing you can run 225/60/15's all round.

my TTd's are 15x7, 225/60/15 with 3.75" and they just rub top of the fender on the fronts. no issue on the rears.

I haven't tried them since i did the shelby drop and went to -0.5deg neg camber. I'm hoping they'll clear now. if not, I can roll fenders or get a few mil shaved off the back spacing.

one thing i did discover was that I couldnt get as much caster as I wanted cos they then hit forward of the wheel as well. i was thinking a 50 series might fix that but the profile might not look right on the 15" wheel.

if i were to do it all again i'd go 16" wheel so i could fit bigger brakes at a later date.

hi Aussie,

reason I don't want to run 225 in front is simply that I have manual steering. Parking is bad as it is already, so I'm not worried at all. looking at my back pocket I'll go for wheels only. they have the same 3.75 BS, so I know for a fact they won't upset the stance/looks. I changed brakes front and back to 11 discs last year, so not a hope I do anything on that anytime soon.

I thinkmy wallet just made the decision for me ;-)

thanks for all your replies!

fair enough Kalli
if you're going with a smaller front your other option is a 15x8 rear for a 235 or 245 back tyre. would look tough and help with your no traction issue. You can get away with the 225 on an 8 to run out the old tyres...just a thought
