351C 2V Hooker Headers hitting idler arm
I got a set of Hooker Headers (part#6913) for my 1969 coupe. I have a 351C 2V. The headers won't allow the idler arm to bolt back in (it hits the bottom of the pipes) even if it would go up in, there is maybe 1/2" of room between the pipes and the subframe and since the idler arm is 3/8" thick I couldn't bolt it on. I thought maybe I could turn it around but I will have to notch the frame. There is plenty of room around the starter so maybe it is just bent wrong. I searched and couldn't find the solution though I see others have had the same problem. Anyone else run into this? I'm going to call Hooker tomorrow but I was just wondering if anyone else has run into this and what their fix was.
Had the same problem with mine. I massaged the pipes some with a hammer and the pipes fit right in. I will always modify the part before the car. A modified part is easy to replace if it doesnt work. A modified car is hard to replace when the part doesnt work.
well the last set i bought you couldn't even get the bolts into the holes. no i don't mean installed, i mean hold the header in one hand and try to put the bolt through the hole it should later go. pipe is in the way. very very bad quality control
