Default ID distributor

I found this distributor lying around in the barn and need to ID the cast numbers. It did came with our first project car (1971 grande), but wasn't used because i converted that ignition to an Duraspark II. Also i don't know if it belonged with the car.

I have this problem with the Mallory Unilite that is in my dd '66 coupe, i want to know if i can use this one and put an Pertronix ignitor II in it. Here are some pics:

cast number is C80F-12131A

from left to right: stamped D00F, cast 12127, stamped AC
Below 0J22

Thanks,
Steffan.

Ignore the casting numbers, they were common to a hundred different distributors. The important numbers here are D00F-AC, which is the exact original application, and 0J22, which is the date code, in this case indicating it was manufactured 1970, November 22. That means it is almost certainly the original distributor on the car you describe. Yours appears untouched, with the original advance, and even still has the felt oil wick in the top of the shaft.

BTW, "12127" is the Ford code for "distributor".

the humps still look good. if the shaft checks out (there should be no movement left to right), a bit up and down is ok I'd use that. Change the points and condensor and put a few drops of engine oil on the felt. not much, don't soak. just a small spray from can
check the vacuum advance. just put a rubber hose on it and suck. it should hold the vacuum. what i mean is suck, put your tongue on the end of rubber hose. it should not loose the vacuum. if you have two connections there (i can't really see that, check both)
