Default Cracked Intake Manifold

Would a cracked intake manifold cause the car to run any different other than being louder than normal??

A cracked intake will make the car run like crap, it won't be louder except that it is louder because it runs like crap.

ya i dont even know if the car would run with a cracked intake....if it did it would probably miss and sputter all the time. Never seen a intake cracked. Ya, exhaust on the other hand would make sort of a popping noise and you would actually be able to put your hand by the manifold and probably feel pops of exhaust air hitting your hand by the crack

Yep the exhaust manifold and would that cause the car to run rough?

It would sound like it is running rough, even so much to create the impression that the roughness is more than the sound.

Exhaust leaks just suck and are the root cause of plenty of unneeded repairs.

It depends on your fundage status and the size of the crack....

If it was me (since I HATE exhaust leaks) I would want to fix it right away if the car is a driver.

The crack can dump red hot exhaust gas which can be a hazard to wires etc.

If the crack is big enough it can create a certain carbon monoxide hazard, if the crack is huge and well placed it can reportedly cause exhaust valve warped.

With all that said about how I despise exhaust leaks,,,, I will expose my hypocrisy, . My 55 Lincoln has a small crack in the drivers side manifold, it ticks a little when cold but stops leaking when it heats up. I need to replace it, but these manifolds (one year only) don't grow on trees....

O.k. the crack is pretty noticable I would have to say about 1/16" crack maybe 1/8" crack all the way thru and I feel air pouring thru it. Thanks, I will try to get the part this week. I could imagine on a 55 Lincoln parts are hard to come by!
