Default No Spark

I'm trying to start my Mustang for the first time since pulling the engine. I replaced the wiring harness (coil, temp, oil pressure wires) with a new one. Other than that, the only wires to change were the ones going to the transmission. Since the car turns over, I assume those are correct.

I pulled the coil wire from the coil and had my wife crank the car. I see no spark.

I then put the key in the "on" position and checked the "+" terminal on the coil. I'm getting a pulse (the light on my tester is blinking). Is this correct?

What else, other than the possibility of the coil going bad, could I have done wrong? I'm having a hard time believing the coil went bad from sitting on a table for a month or two.

I figured it out. I had the Oil Pressure and Coil wires crossed.

I'm glad it was any easy fix.

ya ... :-) always funny when people resolve their issues on their own :-) good it didn't do any damage (short, burned wires)

Got it started. Got it timed. Runs in park pretty much like it did before I pulled it out.

Then I put it in gear. I can barely keep it running.

I'm thinking the carb may not have liked sitting on the bench for two months. I may have to put another carb kit in it. That sucks because I just did that a month or two before this project.

The carb could have some varnish or other issues. It may clear up after driving it some though.

I drove it to a transmission shop this morning. It did seem to run a little better. But the accelerator diaphram looks to be leaking. I'll take the carb off and tighten the screws, hopefully that's the issue (when reconnecting the fuel line, I noticed the banjo bolt that holds the fuel inlet was loose too).

After sitting for 2-3 months, the fuel may have soured a little. I have a clear fuel filter - the gas is yellow.

Maybe those couple of small issues were the problem. Hopefully thats all it is.

When you say the fuel is yellow, do you mean light yellow or dark yellow?

I have a clear fuel filter on mine too and the gas usually looks almost clear with a slight gold/yellow color.
