Default 1965 Coupe accelerator issues

I just picked up a 65 Mustang coupe with the 200 inline 6 engine and factory 4 speed manual transmission. I couldn't pass it up as the price was right and the car has no rust. However, I am new to these inline 6 cylinder engines as my other classics all have V8's. Here is what is going on. I will start the car, it idles nicely and will run all day sitting there but when I give it a little gas it will immediately die. It will not rev up at all, just dies and will restart instantly when I turn the key. It will do this when I put it in 1st gear too. I have to feather the gas so lightly or I can't get it to move as it will die again. Does this sound like a carb issue? It has the 1 barrel autolite 1100 carb on it.

This is a classic symptom of a carb issue. usually the accelerator pump or low fuel level.

Yep. Sounds like the accelerator pump is clogged or otherwise inop.

ya. remove airfilter, engine off. agitate throttle you should see fuel spraying from accellerator pumpo into carb. if you don't see any tat's your problem. check the linkage to pump and if that's good it's the accellerator pump or clogged carb

Will check that tonight. I have heard these carbs are remotely easy to work on?? I have priced replacement 1 barrel carbs and they aren't cheap! I am hoping this one will be an easy fix.
