Default rally pac

Was the rally pac housing orginally colored matched to the interior or was it just black when it was offered? I've decide to get one for my car, and am considering having the housing painted to match the interior color, blue. Any pics would be appreciated.

i have bright blue interior (blue white pony combo) with black rally pac. i never wanted a color coded one. I think the black photocase phinish matches well with the speedo ... will see if I can pull pictures somewhere

The original colors of my car was black outside and red interior. My rally pak came in red.

I think the rally pacs were generally color matched.

Where are you getting one from? I would like one for mine, but can't see spending 400 for one. One day I am going to get one though. Who has the best price for one?

Does any one have a picture of the rally pac illuminated at night?

There were two basic types of Rally Pac, the early "high profile", mated to the Falcon-style speedometer, which was always black, and the later "low profile" type, mated to the round style speedometer, which was color-keyed to the interior.

For a few years prior to the introduction of the repros, decent Rally Pacs were selling for $500-$1000, depending on condition. That's more like $650-$1300, after inflation.

Timing is everything. In the 70's, you could get a Rally Pac at flea markets (no eBay then) for $50. That's for a decent one. That's about $100 now.

The least expensive I've seen have been on ebay. I decided to bite the bullet and opted for one from Dallas Mustang, local.

Thanks for the pics 2+2gt and jgstang65, I think I'll leave it black. Like the way it looks.

While correct that the high profile '65 came black, I decided that I wanted mine to be color coded for this car. I used the same interior paint as the dash and used a few light coats so as to not lose the camera case finish. Prior to painting, I took everything apart so I wouldn't have to worry about overspray and taping. It came out looking like it was made that way. FWIW, I bought it on Ebay for $350-ish.
